Kallpa, Peru
Recently, one of Texas OilTech’s lab technician, Jeanine Malapaya, went to an on-site power plant, Kallpa, for the testing of gas analysis.
Kallpa, scheduled as planned, began with its operations during this past month of June. It is located in Peru at a town called Chilca which is 62 km south of Lima. The Kallpa plant consist of two phases: the first phase provides 168 MW of power and the second phase consists of 336 MW of power; natural gas-fired generators that will provide for part of the electric power in Peru. The plant is fueled by Peru’s largest domestic natural gas reserve, the Camisea field, with a “national goal of changing the energy matrix.”
Corex (UK) Ltd.

Texas OilTech Laboratories and Corex (UK) Ltd. has made an agreement in principle for a cooperative effort to establish testing services.
Corex is a specialist service company dealing with the analysis of geological samples on behalf of the international oil and gas industry. They specialize in formation damage analysis and core services. Corex presently have offices in Scotland, Egypt, Libia, and Kazakhstan.
This cooperation will allow Texas OilTech Laboratories to serve clients in Central Asia and North Africa, in addition to Europe.
POWER-GEN Europe: Madrid, Spain

Texas OilTech Laboratories representatives, Phillip Sorurbakhsh and Diego Sierra, were able to participate in Power-GEN Europe’s exhibit in Madrid, Spain. During this exhibition, our representatives met with many delegates of different industries, including some of our good friends and customers.
Texas OilTech Laboratories prepared a technical paper for Power-GEN Europe titled, “Optimum Gas Quality Specification - A Laboratory's Perspective: What Should it Contain and What Tests Should be Called Out.” For a copy of this paper, click here.

Guayaquil, Ecuador Conference with INATRA

A joint conference between Texas OilTech Laboratories and INATRA was held on June 12, 2007 at Guayaquil, Ecuador.
INATRA was created on the 18th of July, during the year of 1974. It is an industry with the goal of manufacturing and the distribution of electrical transformers.
INATRA’s speaker representative was Ing. Ivan Lascano, and Texas OilTech’s speakers were Paula Carrillo and Diego Sierra. Ing. Lascano discussed recent improvements in transformer technology and the proper maintenance of the transformer to give increased life expectancy. Ms. Carrillo and Mr. Sierra discussed qualification tests for electrical insulating oils used in transformers including tests for physical properties, electrical properties, and chemical properties of the oils. One important aspect of these oils was the measurement of PCBs which are now considered toxic and regulated chemicals in many countries.

The conference further addressed subject matters such as the chemical and physical properties of PCBs as well as their safe disposal.

POWER-GEN Europe: Madrid, Spain, June 2007

Our Laboratory Director, Dr. Phil Sorurbakhsh, was selected to be an alternate presenter. POWER-GEN International: Orlando, Florida, November 2006
Representatives from Texas OilTech Laboratories participated in November’s Power-Gen International at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. This was a great opportunity to visit and convene with various industry leaders and many of our customers.
