GASEOUS FUELS FOR GAS TURBINES

Natural Gas and Gaseous Mixtures, ISO 6974

The recommended and optional tests developed in these sections are based on the international specification for gaseous fuels, ISO 6974. These tests are further supplemented by guidelines provided by the various turbine manufacturers. A combination of our recommended tests and applicable optional tests should satisfy requirements for gaseous fuels for most turbine manufacturers.

Liquified Petroleum Gases (LPG)

Four commercial grades of LPG are described in ASTM D 1835 and GPA 2140.

•  Commercial Propane

•  Commercial Butane

•  Commercial Butane-Propane Mixtures

•  Special Purpose Propane (Propane HD 5 or equivalent)

The required tests are the same for all four grades of LPG. The requirements for each grade are given in ASTM D 1835.

Other Gaseous Fuels

We maintain a library of fuel specifications provided to us by the turbine manufacturers and are always happy to discuss your specific testing requirements. Please consult Texas OilTech Laboratories, Inc. for a quotation to meet your particular specifications for gaseous fuels used in gas turbines.
