1. How can I tell how much sample I need to send in?

a. If a quote for services is provided by Texas OilTech Laboratories, the volume of sample required for testing will be stated on the quote.

b. A simple phone call (281-495-2400) will answer your questions regarding sample size.

c. In most cases we will give you the absolute minimum of sample needed to perform the testing you have requested. However, we would prefer that at least twice the minimum amount be provided by you to ensure that enough sample is available for rechecks and duplicate analysis if needed.

2. Do you have sample pick-up service?

Texas OilTech does provide complimentary sample pick-up. Local sample pick-up is offered at no charge.

3. Are sample containers available? For oil? Fuel gas? Hydraulic fluids?

YES! Containers, mailers, labels and shipping instruction for domestic and international shipment of your samples are provided at no cost. Pressurized gas cylinders are available for natural gas samples, plastic bottles for diesel fuel samples, and ultra clean glass bottles for sampling hydraulic fluids that requires a particle count measurement are also supplied.

4. How can I send my gas samples to you? Shipping of hazardous materials?

Samples may be hand carried to our facilities, shipped by air carrier (cargo only), or by ground carrier. All samples MUST be accomplished by properly filled out Hazardous Cargo shipping papers. IF Texas OilTech provides empty sample cylinders, return shipping labels will be provided as well. For further questions involving shipping, please call Texas OilTech’s shipping/receiving personnel.

6. Do you have a Chain of Custody Form?

Yes, we do provide our customers with a Chain of Custody Form. The Chain of Custody Form should accompany all samples submitted; it can be your form as well as ours. A Chain of Custody Form from Texas OilTech Laboratories can be downloaded by clicking here.

7. What methods of payments are accepted?

Payment in advance is required for all clients except those whose credit has been established with our company. For clients with approved credit, terms are net 10 days. For your convenience, we also accept American Express, VISA, and MasterCard credit cards.

8. Turnaround time for: Rush, 48 hrs, etc.?

Typical turnaround time for samples is 48 hours for routine procedures, once samples have been received. However, this time can be extended due to the nature and type of analysis requested. This and other issues regarding testing should be discussed with Texas OilTech Laboratories prior to submitting samples. In the case of an absolute need for RUSH analysis, this matter, as well as cost can be discussed prior to submitting samples. Keep in mind, not all analysis can be rushed!

9. Are you Texas Certified?

The State of Texas does not have or provide a certification program for petroleum testing. However, if your concern is accuracy, repeatability, etc., Texas OilTech Laboratories participates in several analytical programs directed toward proficiency, including the ASTM Interlaboratory Crosscheck Program, which consists of hundreds of analytical laboratories throughout the USA worldwide.

10. What procedures can you offer for trace metals, ICP, PA, ICP/MS, GFAA?

Texas OilTech Laboratories can provide a wide variety of methods, as mentioned above. Texas OilTech Laboratories suggest you call prior to submitting samples to discuss which method is BEST for your needs, based on precision and detection limits, as well as the type of sample to be submitted.

11. Do you perform UOP standard methods?

Texas OilTech Laboratories utilizes various methodologies in its laboratory, including but not limited to ASTM, UOP, EPA, and GPA. If you require a specific method for your analytical needs, please call and discuss this with us prior to submitting your sample. Otherwise, we will utilize the best-recognized method available to analyze your sample.

12. What procedures do you recommend for diesel fuel lubricity test?

Based on specifications outlined in ASTM D 975 Diesel Fuel Specifications, two methods are quoted as acceptable for determining lubricity; ASTM D 6079 by High Frequency Reciprocating Rig, HHRR, or by ASTM D 6078 by Scuffingload Ball on Cylinder Lubricity Evaluation, SLBOCLE. Again, feel free to call Texas OilTech Laboratories to discuss your exact needs and requirements concerning your analytical testing.

13. Do you provide discount pricing based on number of samples in frequency of testing?

We discount according to the number of samples and for the number of tests per sample. All test packages show a discounted price. Multiple samples for a given test package will also be discounted. Please request a quote.
