Crude oils can vary over a wide range of composition depending on the source of the crude. They range from light and very fluid oils with low API Gravity typical of Middle East crudes to the dark, heavy, viscous crudes such as those from Venezuela and northern Russia with many intermediate types.

There is no single ASTM specification for crude oil. However, there are a number of ASTM test procedures that are specific to crude oils.

Our first recommendation for a crude oil test package is based on the tests that are commonly used to characterize such products.

Another test package reflects those tests required by Houston area refineries for Texas crudes that are gathered in our region. Sulfur analysis plays a prominent role in such QC testing.

We are always happy to prepare a customized test package for your product based on your requirements.
